Western Union’s Helping Hands to Construct School in Poorest Commune (Zapod) in Kukes: A Public-Private Partnership Initiative

Objective:

To provide improved educational opportunities for the students of Bele Village, a remote and mine affected village in Zapod commune.

Description:

This project has been facilitated by co-operation between the First Data Western Union Foundation, Western Union’s agent in Albania Financial Union of Tirana and UNDP Albania. The project will go towards construction of the school and the purchase of basic furniture.

The Zapod School project responds to the priorities set by the Kukes Millennium Development Goals Regional Development Strategy, which was drafted by local stakeholders. They prioritized development needs and areas of improvement in education and and school infrastructure.
