| Objective: | Contribute to economic growth in rural areas through improvement of the performance of livestock sector. Increase Farmers revenues in the target areas due to improved production practices and selling of quality and safer animal origin products. |
| Description: | The project aims to contribute to the overall objective of alleviation of poverty in rural areas and of improvement of consumer protection of animal food products. Through the support to harmonize and modernize national livestock databases the traceability of livestock and safety of livestock products will be improved. A value chain for lamb meat will be developed according to the EU principles of quality and food safety – “from farm to fork”. The project aims to address these issues by working with voluntary formed farmers associations. The Project is funded jointly by European Union and the Italian Government and will be implemented by UNDP Albania. |

| Beneficiaries: | The project beneficiaries will be the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Protection, livestock keepers, farmers, processors and traders. The final beneficiaries will be the consumer expected to have access to safer products and the rural community (farmers) expected to increase its economic welfare. |
