Protecting the rights of women in Durres

Advancing gender equality and the rights of women is a focus of the United Nation`s work in Albania, supporting the national priority to achieve Millennium Development Goal 3: Gender Equality. As part of the United Nations Joint Programme on Gender Equality, the United Nations Development Programme is piloting a model for a coordinated community response to domestic violence in the municipalities of Korca, Durres and Kamza.

Universities of human development to be established in Vlora and Shkodra

Albanian, international students and public officials are set to take part in research and training on local human development with the establishment of two ‘Laboratories for Human Development and International Cooperation’ in Shkodra and Vlora. The initiative partners UNDP Albania’s ART GOLD 2 Programme, the Albanian Ministry of Education and Science and UNOPS.

Modernizing the Albanian livestock industry - An interview with UNDP`s Ulrich Schmidt

The UNDP livestock project is contributing at the national level to support the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Protection to modernise and harmonise national databases and the information system within the livestock sector. This work is conducted in close collaboration with several other projects, currently active in the livestock and food safety sector in Albania.
